Our School

School Day

Excel Academy prepares students for success in high school and college by providing a college-preparatory education and instilling the values necessary for long-term success.  Our school promotes academic mastery, character development and individual exploration through the four key components of our school day, called Core, Connections, Focus and Enrichment:

  • Core: Students take 400 minutes of mathematics and 400 minutes of English each week to ensure that they master core skills and content necessary for success in high school and college.
  • Connections: Students take 400 minutes of science or 400 minutes of social studies each week to gain core skills in the scientific method, geography and history and to explore questions that relate to their communities but that also possess more global significance.  Science and social studies are semester-long courses.
  • Focus: Students receive targeted tutoring and academic support focused on individual needs throughout the week.
  • Enrichment: Students receive formal instruction in fitness, art, and life skills and also participate in other athletic and artistic enrichment activities.

Our school operates a longer school day and extended school year which ensures that teachers are maximizing the number of instructional hours and that students are making significant personal and academic gains.
